If you’re looking at making an extra income online, or even trying to replace your existing income, read this list for some ideas.

- Design t-shirts. Come up with a good design / witty text / anything that would look good on a t-shirt. There are a lot of companies that would make the t-shirts for you when you give them the design. Then sell them and make a good profit for yourself!
- Design a seal. This is good “little-known” secret… Many people are willing to pay a lot of money to have a seal on their website. They think it gives their site credibility, importance, etc. So set-up a website, design a seal, set up guidelines for people to follow to qualify for the seal, then charge them $100-$500 to use the seal on their website.
- Make clipart and icons. Design some clipart and logos and either sell them separately, or sell them as a package.
- Create MySpace backgrounds. There is a lot of money to be made from designing, creating and selling MySpace backgrounds. Give out a few for free, with your advertising on (for marketing), and then sell the rest.
- Edit photos for others. There are a lot of websites and programs out there, to edit photos. You can offer to restore old photos or put a few cute borders around them, etc., for a fee.
- Submit websites or blogs to social bookmarking sites. Plenty of people want to market their websites and blogs, but don’t have the time to do it. You can market their websites for them by submitting it to social bookmarking sites, such as StumpleUpon and Digg.
- Get paid to surf the net. This doesn’t pay a lot, but if you have some time on your hands, give this a go.
- Get free samples. Okay, so you won’t get free cash samples, but it’s always nice to get something for free. And there are a lot of companies giving out free samples!
- Enter contests. Why not? You’ve got nothing to lose! I know, a lot of you are probably saying, “I don’t have good luck – I never win anything!” But, how do you expect to win something, if you never enter any competitions?
- Data entry. This also doesn’t pay much, but if you’ve got some time to kill and would rather spend your time trying to earn a few dollars, instead of wasting your time, this is an option.
- Become a virtual assistant. This is a very good way to earn some money, with little or no skill needed. People need virtual assistants for all kinds of odd jobs – such as writing an article, researching something, etc. Basically, everything and anything that can be done over the internet.
- Get paid to search. There are a few search engines that pay people to use their search engine. You can be paid in cash, vouchers, items or prizes.
- Start an online store. Sell e-items (eBooks, whitepapers, etc.) or real products that you can buy wholesale or drop shipped, and sell online for some nice profits.
- Start an affiliate website. If you don’t want to sell some items yourself, why not market another website’s items? Find customers, refer them to their website, and earn commission on each item sold.
- Open a virtual storefront. If you don’t want to sell your own products, or refer customers to an affiliate website, then you can also consider opening a virtual storefront. This is a website that can be hosted by someone else.
- Offer paid reviews from your website and get paid between $10 – $60 per website, from the website owner.
- Start a quality directory. Collect some quality site listings, get a few high ranking websites to link to it, and then sell listings to this directory.
- Resell web hosting. There are a lot of web hosting websites that offer reseller packages. Basically, you would rent server space, divide it, and then resell the smaller divided spaces.
- Host forums. As with web hosting reselling, you can buy space on which you can literally host hundreds of separate forums on. You can offer the forums for free, but use it for ads as well, or you can charge people a monthly fee for the use of a forum.
- Be a link builder. People who has either just started a new website, or whose existing website is still very unpopular, could make use of your link building skills. Find good quality websites to which you can submit links, and charge people for each link that you get on a good website.
- Submit to directories. There are a lot of directories to submit websites to, but most website owners don’t have the time to do it. A lot of website owners will pay someone to do it for them.
- Be a consultant. All you have to do is research and review a website, maybe do a survey on the website, and suggest improvements and changes to the website owner (who requested this service), which will improve their search engine rankings. Put this all together in a professional report, and you can charge anywhere between $500 – $3000 for it.
- Review software. Developers pay people to test and review the software created by them. Just provide honest feedback, and you will be rewarded.
- Sell products via email. Think of Avon and Tupperware – in the old days, parties were thrown and catalogs passed around and people will order the products from you. These days, however, it’s much easier. You can just email the catalog to some people, who will also forward it to some of their friends, and so forth, and then you’ve got some potential new sales, quickly and easily.
- Mystery shopping. Companies pay people to shop at their company and “secretly” review their experience, so that the company can analyze what needs improvement, how well trained their staff is, etc.
- Transcribe audio files. When people focus on podcasts, they sometimes need a transcribed version of their podcast as well. This is where you can help out. Just listen, type what you hear, and get your paycheck.
- Help local businesses develop an online presence. Many local businesses still don’t have any online presence at all. Assist them by placing advertisements on the internet, listing them on directories, etc.. Find customers by going door to door.
- Learn WordPress, and then offer to install plugins and upgrade it. It’s really very simple to learn, but a lot of people just don’t want to bother with it. You can easily charge $5 for each plugin you upgrade, and $10 for each plugin you install. For one minute’s work, it definitely worth it!
- Become the go-to person for installations of a particular piece of software. Familiarize yourself with one piece of software (and more particularly, a piece of software that can take a long time to learn, or that other people just find irritating to work with) and advertise your knowledge on the net. You can create tutorials or videos to teach other people some tips or tricks on the software, or teach their employees to use it, etc.
- Interview other people and sell the interviews. Do an internet search and research what popular topics people are searching for. Then find an expert on the subject, do an interview with them, and sell the interview.
- Become a freelance “web nerd”. There are a lot of websites out there that needs some tweaking, but the website owners don’t always know how to tweak it themselves. If you know (or can learn) how to tweak websites, you can make a lot of money from various small jobs.
- Enter logo and design contests. If you’re creative and talented with designing, submit your designs to relevant websites and you could earn some good money, if your design is better than a lot of the other designs submitted. This is also a good way to test what type of designs is popular with certain clients.
- Create Twitter backgrounds and e-covers. This method also needs some creativity as your designs need to be good enough to get people to buy an eBook or follow someone on Twitter. But if you are talented enough, you could make a lot of money with this method.
- Parked domains. If you’ve bought a domain or two that you have not used yet, or are only planning on using in the future, you can make some money from the domain in the meantime by parking it. Parked domains basically serve the purpose as advertisement and traffic redirection.
- Binary options trading. This has been the most popular form of trading since it was introduced in 2008 on the Chicago Board Options Exchange in the US.
- Be a life coach or counselor. Many people feel more comfortable in talking to a counselor online, than in person. Listen, give some advice and charge at an hourly rate.
- MLM (Multi-Level Marketing). This is when multiple people are marketing a specific product to consumers. You can get compensated for each product you sell, as well as for each person that you recruit. This is one of the pure methods of passive income because it requires a lot of work in the beginning, but the monthly income afterwards won’t require as much regular work anymore.

- Advertise on your own website. You can use Google Adsense, or even place private ads on your own website. The more monthly visitors your site gets, the more money you will make with the advertisements.
- Start your own job board. What is the one thing every person needs and/or wants? Money. What is the most obvious way to get it? Get a job. Job boards are very popular on the net and can be easily set-up. Why not start your own job board?
- Refer others to jobs. Many companies will pay a lot of money for referring the right person for a job. Develop relationships with recruiters and look on job boards for good candidates. Refer these candidates to the recruiters and get the cash.
- Your own selling/buying listing service. Think of sites such as Craigslist and Ebay – you can buy other people’s products; sell your own products; etc. Create your own website and offer the same service. One warning though – you’ll have to market your website thoroughly to make sure you get enough visitors. The more popular your site is, the more people will list on your site.
- Membership site and premium content. Collect some good articles, eBooks, podcasts, etc., and publish them on your website. You can then give some of the information out for free, but offer the more “premium” content to visitors for a monthly subscription fee.
- Sell your own products. If there is something you’re good at making – whether it’s baking, crafts, etc., why not make a few products and sell it online?
- Start your own online store. This is one of the more popular methods as you don’t need to buy products beforehand, as with a real physical store. As soon as someone purchases an item, you can purchase the stock and arrange for it to be delivered directly to your customer.
- Write tutorials. If you’ve got extensive knowledge on a subject, create tutorials or videos to teach other people about the subject and then sell it on the internet for a pleasant profit!
- Publish an eBook. If you love writing, or have written enough articles to compile an eBook out of it, this is for you. The wonderful thing about an eBook is that you only need to write and perfect it once, but it can be sold millions of times.
- Design and sell a website. Purchase a domain and a hosting package, design a website, tweak it a bit, publish a few articles and then sell your website. Typically, most websites sell for about 12 – 24 months’ revenue.
- Make money from your talent on Fiverr. Here you can offer any kind of service for $5. The possibilities are endless – some people offer to review your website and suggest improvements, some people make a video of themselves dancing, with your website’s name written on them, some people design logos, some people even drive around for a week with a sticker with your website’s URL on their car. What can you offer for $5?
- Provide customer service. A few companies offer the opportunity to provide customer service from home. This basically entails taking orders from people, providing technical support, etc.
- Launch a blog. If you have some hobbies that you know a lot about, why not write about it in a blog and monetize your blog?
- Take part in online paid surveys. There are quite a few sites that pay people for taking part in surveys. Some pay in cash, some pay in vouchers, some pay in same samples – but either way, you will get paid.
- Do online tasks for Amazon.com’s Mechanical Turk. This includes small tasks such as searching the Web for certain products or answering questions and giving opinions.
- Be a forum moderator. Some sites pay people to moderate their forum. All you would have to do is keep an eye open for spam, curse words, etc., and get people to participate in the discussions. It’s quite easy actually!
- Freelance – write articles for other websites. A lot of web owners outsource the writing of their articles.
- Get paid to post in forums. When a new forum has just been started and doesn’t have a lot of visitors yet, forum owners sometimes pay people to post in their forum to give it a good kick start. As soon as a forum looks as if it has active participants, the number of visitors will increase.
- Start your own podcast. This is the same as a blog, except that you don’t post words on a website – your blog will be in audio or video instead.
- Translate documents and websites. If you speak a second language, this option is for you. All you have to do is translate a document, and get paid.
- Buy in-game real estate on Second Life. This is a popular way of making money on Second Life. Buy and develop land, then sell it, and you could become a real life millionaire like Ansche Chung.
- Open an in-game store on Second Life. Many people have made a lot of money from selling products in a “store” on Second Life. You can design, make and sell just about anything you can imagine!
- Sell domains and websites for other people. Some people have unused websites and domains – generally because they bought it with an idea for a website that they wanted to start, but never did. Offer to sell it for them, for a fee of 10% of course.
- Sell stuff you don’t need/want anymore on eBay.
- Sell other people’s junk on eBay for them. Some people want to get rid of their stuff, but are too lazy to do it or just don’t want to go through the hassles themselves. Offer to sell their junk on eBay for 10% commission.
- Buy other people’s junk and sell it on eBay. You can scour thrift shops and garage sales – look for some cheap good quality products, buy it, and then sell it for a higher price on eBay.
- Create a virtual store on eBay with drop shipping. When doing this, you can create your own website with tons of products for visitors to consider. Then, when they buy, the shipping company will ship it out for you, with your name on it. That is the beauty of these products – you don’t ever need to actually have stock!
- Take and sell stock photos. Do you like taking photographs as a hobby? Then why not sell them online?
- Flip websites and/or domains. There are a few websites advertising other websites that are for sale. Look out for a few good bargains, buy them, and then sell them for a higher price.
- Buy profitable websites and keep them. Look out for some good websites, buy them and keep them. Look specifically for websites that generate regular monthly income.
- PPC Arbitrage – Design a website with ads and affiliate programs. Use keywords that are popular. Look for some cheap but good ways to get traffic and watch your income grow.
- Become a day trader.
- Be a guest author. Some people pay between $30 – $500 for good articles to post on their site. The better your article is, and the more unique your article is, the more you will get paid.
- Convert e-currency. Some people have eBay vouchers, eGold money, etc., that they want to convert into PayPal money. Offer this service for 10% commission.
- Design logos. Lots of businesses still need a good logo but don’t want to pay thousands of dollars for professionals to design it for them, and feel that they can’t design a good logo themselves. Offer this service for a fee.
- Design websites. After a website has been set-up, it still needs some designs to make it look more professional and appealing. If you are creating enough, you can design people’s websites for a fee.
- Design ads. When designing websites, you could also offer to design ads as well for an extra fee.
- Draw cartoons. If you are creative and like drawing, then draw cartoons and sell them to websites.

10 Tips for Creating the Perfect Elevator Pitch
You only have one chance to make a good first impression.
So, imagine you’re in an elevator – the door opens at the next floor and a very influential person in your sector steps in. You know that this is the chance of a lifetime – this person could open millions of doors for you – but first, you’ve got to impress him/her. Do you have an elevator speech prepared and rehearsed?
An elevator pitch is a summary used to get a point across quickly and effectively. As the name suggests, the summary should be as long as an elevator ride – you have approximately 30 – 60 seconds to create a good impression. Why only 30 – 60 seconds? There are two reasons: Sometimes the person you want to impress only has a minute of time available. Also, the attention span of an average person is just 30 seconds… Unless you make it interesting of course!
What are QR Codes?
A QR (Quick Response) code is a two dimensional barcode(also called a matrix barcode). It is similar to the barcodes used by retailers, with the main difference being the amount of data which they can hold. QR codes can be scanned by most smartphone cameras. It then transfers information to the smartphone. This information can for example, take you to an URL, save a contact to your phone, read text, make a telephone call, etc.
This encoded information can consist of different types of date, i.e. Kanji (or Kana) (maximum of 1817 characters), binary (maximum 2953 bytes), numeric (maximum 7089 characters) and alphanumerical (maximum 4296 characters) symbols.
